Phermonal Components of Intact Male Mice Preputial Gland in Relation to Flutamide Effects

Abstract

The present study is designed to investigate the effect of 2mg/ml/day of flutamide on the melanocortin -5-recepter (MC5R); total lipid compounds; essential pheromone compounds and histological structure of the preputial gland of intact male mice after 42 days of treatment. Such treatment is resulted in a significant increase (P<0.01) of MC5R level as compared with the control group. Moreover the total lipid contents did not alter from that of the control, but most of the essential pheromones compounds are disappeared. The histological structure of the gland is atrophied and many acini are degenerated with a concomitant increased of necrosis regions in the stroma of the gland.
